McKinney Patients ask, “Is Botox the best facial filler for treating fine lines?”

As we age, the years begin to take a toll on our face. Fine lines and wrinkles naturally appear. Suddenly a life filled with smiling and laughter can make you look older than you feel. This can have a negative effect on your self-esteem and leave you unhappy with the reflection in the mirror. McKinney patients can turn to Dr. Selkin to restore youthfulness to their faces.

Over time, dynamic wrinkles will begin to appear on the face. While you are still young, these wrinkles are only visible when you are using the facial muscles to make expressions. As you get older, these muscles are no longer able to relax and the dynamic wrinkles become permanent fixtures on your face.

Botox is an injectable that has been proven successful in addressing dynamic wrinkles. It works by blocking the nerves from sending signals to the muscles, allowing them to relax. Botox can eliminate the visible signs of aging by smoothing and softening fine lines and wrinkles, particularly on the eyes and forehead. Results from Botox are immediate, but it usually takes up to two weeks for the muscles to completely relax and visibly eliminate wrinkles.

Botox treatments are temporary, and results usually last about four months. Patients wishing to maintain results long term can schedule maintenance sessions.

Injection of botox in beautiful woman faceBotox is effective at addressing frown lines, crow’s feet, fine lines around the eyes, and wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes. Botox treatments are fast and convenient. A session can be completed in less than twenty minutes and you can resume normal activities immediately.

Patients who have had Botox treatments may experience minor swelling or bruising near the injection sites, which typically disappear within a week. Ice packs and eating pineapples, which contain Bromelain, decrease swelling and bruising.

At the Center for Dermatology and Cosmetic Laser Surgery, we know that your appearance is important to you. In addition to Botox, we offer a variety of injectables for complete facial rejuvenation. To learn more about how you can finally look as young as you feel, call our office today to schedule an appointment.
