Injectables

There are two different ways wrinkles may appear on the body. There are dynamic wrinkles, which develop over time as we regularly use muscles for facial expressions. When we frown, purse the lips, laugh, squint, scowl or smile, we are using muscles that will form memory. Dynamic wrinkles may be constantly present, or may appear when the face is in motion. These lines on the face are often treated with injectable products that relax the muscles and, thus, smooth the lines.

Botox is the injectable that people are most familiar with, as it has been widely used for well over a decade. This injectable product, used in all three of our dermatology office near Plano, can target issues such as:

  • Frown Lines between the eyebrows
  • Lines across the forehead
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Lipstick lines, or smoker’s lines
  • Downturned mouth corners
  • Chin contraction
  • Neck Bands

Static wrinkles are those that develop as collagen and other necessary components to youthful skin break down over time. These wrinkles are not associated with facial movement, and are always visible, even when the face is relaxed. Static wrinkles may include Marionette lines, nasolabial lines, even the platysmal bands that run across the neck. Dermal fillers are injectables usually used to minimize the appearance of static wrinkles.

Dermal fillers are injectables such as Juvéderm and Radiesse, which may be based on collagen or hyaluronic acid. Treating lines with dermal fillers restores fullness both immediate and long-term, by promoting the ongoing production of necessary substances beneath the skin.
