Phototherapy

Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne can greatly impact your life, leaving you feeling uncomfortable both physically and emotionally. Modern medicine offers a number of solutions for handling these diseases of the skin, but not all are suitable for every patient.

Each of these conditions is traditionally treated with topical medicated creams which may vary in strength. Oral medications may also be used as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan. However, systemic drugs such a prednisone, Humira, and Enbrel are not without side effects. People taking such medications for the treatment of eczema, acne, or psoriasis may find their immune systems compromised, in addition to other common side effects.

We want our patients to experience their healthiest skin and healthiest bodies, and have equipped our Plano and Flower Mound offices with safe, powerful light therapy for the treatment of chronic skin conditions including vitiligo. These effective treatments are performed in our office 5 days a week, and two Saturdays a month. With a full-time phototherapy nurse on staff, we are able to accommodate our patients’ busy schedules so that they may get on with the business of living.

We are a leading center for light therapy

Narrowband UVB light therapy is extremely safe, containing less than 1 percent of the wavelengths found in natural sunlight. Studies have found that this form of light therapy optimizes the UVB light spectrum that slows psoriasis, and yields better results than both traditional broadband light therapy and oral antibiotics. The risks of side effects associated with such treatments is also nearly eliminated with narrowband UVB light therapy.

Provided in short, convenient office appointments in Plano or Flower Mound, where our patients have easy access to our office, our light therapy treatments can lead to the realization of quick psoriasis clearing, and the treatment of vitiligo without the need for photosensitizing agents.

Safer and more effective than treatment with oral medications, narrowband UVB light therapy may also be covered under insurance. Our friendly staff can help you determine your level of coverage for this innovative treatment.
