Mara Dacso M.D.Dr. Mara Dacso is one of only a handful of Dermatologists in the area to specialize in Dermatology and Dermatopathology (microscopic study of skin biopsies). Her extra training gives her unique insight into many skin conditions. A native Texan, she distinguished herself as Chief Resident in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. Following residency, Dr. Dacso trained in Dermatopathology at the world-renowned Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology in New York, NY.
Dr. Dacso is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern, where she volunteers to staff the monthly Hansen’s disease clinic. She is an active member and participant in both national and international professional organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, Texas Dermatological Society, American Society of Dermatopathology, International Society of Dermatopathology, and American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. She has published research in national and international medical journals.
Dr. Dacso welcomes patients of all ages. She utilizes the latest treatments and techniques to manage skin conditions while providing individualized care to her patients. Dr. Dacso speaks Spanish fluently, and she is sensitive to the cultural context of each patient. Some of her many interests include medical dermatology, skin cancer, international health, and infectious diseases, particularly mycobacterial skin diseases including Hansen’s disease (leprosy) and tuberculosis.
During her free time she enjoys singing, fine arts, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and family.
